In a few short years, HWHC juniors has rapidly grown from a small band of enthusiastic children on a Sunday morning to a 370+ member club training throughout the week and having an impact at county, borough and regional level.
This wouldn't be possible without an amazing team of volunteers and we are always looking for enthusiastic people to get involved.
Our coaching team is made up of England Hockey qualified coaches, senior club players and parents. You don't need to be an experienced coach or player yourself - if you are enthusiastic, friendly and keen to get on the pitch, get in touch!
"It's enormously rewarding to coach a team you would have wanted to play in as a child."
Will, U10 boys coach and parent
"I stood on the sidelines watching my kids each Sunday, and the itch to get back out on the pitch struck. The opportunity to help coach such an enthusiastic group has been great fun, and seeing them all start to develop their games is cool."
Piran, U12 girls coach and parent
"Coaching hockey at HWHC has allowed me the opportunity to develop skills within the group and give children the platform to enjoy and excel in the sport. It is very rewarding to see how this progresses over the course of a season."
Russ, U14 girls coach and parent
“What a fantastic way to spend a Sunday morning: the girls are so enthusiastic and have really gelled into a proper team, and it’s brilliant to see how they’ve each developed and grown their skills and confidence. The club overall is immensely supportive and well run – if you get the chance: get involved!”
Martin, U10 girls coach and parent
Umpires are crucial to play matches at every level. We offer basic workshops, Level 1 courses and consistent support for anyone who is keen to pick up a whistle.
With 22 junior teams, support off the pitch is just as important as support on the pitch. Our team managers help organise fixtures and logistics. Even if you can just get the cookies for post match teas, we'd love to hear from you!
“I’ve really enjoyed helping to manage the team. Being a small part of it has added excitement to each match. It’s been great getting to know the other parents and watching how the team has developed.”
Mark, U16 girls manager and parent
"It has been a pleasure to get more involved with my son's team and support HWHC Juniors. Alex was always on hand with help and advice and once up and running it became quite easy to manage the team and confirm our fixtures. I am looking forward to doing it again next season."
Rachel, U12 boys team manager and parent
